In the mid Eighties Sheffield bikers met in a biker friendly pub, in Sheffield's Eastend - 'The Eastenders'. As there was no 'middle of the road' clubs, a group of bikers started to meet with a view to starting a club. At this time time the club named themselves 'The East End Jesters'.

Sadly as is often the case, plans were discovered which meant that once the pubs previous losses had been recouped from the sales made to the bikers the pub would become an all too familiar 'Fun pub' at which bikers would not be welcome. Every body decided to abandon ship and a hunt began for another pub prepared to accept a growing bike club. Initially a group of the bikers moved to the 'Grey hound' on Attercliffe Common. Four of these bikers (all cat lovers) were extremely keen to get a club off the ground. The 'Grey hound' was O.K. but in those days the bikers seemed to provide Saturday night entertainment for the regulars, so the hunt began for another pub.

In 1988 Jayne Batterham, Barry Biggin, Russell Beddow and Elaine Waller, Called the first meeting of the 'Wyld Catz MCC' at the 'Owl' on Neepsend lane. The turnout was encouraging and the club started to take off.

Over the years the club has moved around and has been based at 'ST Cuthbert's Club' at Firvale, 'The Princess Royale' at Woodhouse, 'The Plumbers' at Tinsley and ironically has returned to its original home at the 'Grey hound' at Attercliffe common.

Over the year the club has hosted many events, parties and annual Rallies. They have also taken part in charity events and runs with other clubs and the 'South Yorkshire Police Motor Cycle Section'.

The club has always and continues to have a policy that any biker is welcome irrespective of age, gender, culture and style of bike. All we ask is that people have the right attitude and want to be part of a group of like minded individuals.

Originally Sheffield Wyld Catz MCC were affiliated to M.A.D. (Motorcyclists Against Discrimination), and to date are affiliated to M.A.G. (Motorcycle Action Group) and B.M.F. (British Motorcyclist Federation). Nowadays Sheffield Wyld Catz have close associations with other local Bike Clubs and is one of the founder clubs of the Commrades Association.
